  • 2 lbs chicken wings
  • 1/2 tsp crushed root ginger
  • 1 tbsp light soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp cornstarch
  • 2 tsps sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp Chinese wine or
  • 2 tbsps dry sherry
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • 2 tbsps peanut oil
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • 1 tbsp dark soy sauce
  • 1 star anise
  • 3 tbsps water


  • #These delicious chicken wings can be served on any occasion.# Wash chicken wings and dry on paper towels.
  • Mix together ginger, light soy sauce, sugar, cornstarch, sesame oil, wine, and seasoning. Pour marinade over chicken wings and leave for at least 1 hour, turning occasionally.
  • Heat peanut oil until very hot. Add green onions and chicken wings, and fry until chicken is browned well on all sides.
  • Add dark soy sauce, star anise and water. Bring to the boil, and simmer for 15 minutes.
  • Remove star anise. Serve hot or cold.
