Beef with Onions Recipe | Chinese Cuisine
Ingredients
- 1 lb fillet steak
- #Marinade#
- 1 tbsp oil
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1 tbsp Chinese wine
- 1 tbsp oil
- 1 piece fresh ginger root, peeled and roughly chopped
- 3 onions, finely sliced
- 1 garlic clove, chopped
- 1¼ cups beef stock
- 1 pinch of sugar
- 2 tbsps dark soy sauce
- 1 tsp cornstarch, combined with a little water
- Salt and pepper
Instructions
- #Marinated beef, sauteed with onions, garlic and ginger and served in a smooth sauce.# Cut the fillet into very thin slices.
- Mix together the marinade ingredients and stir in the meat. Leave to marinate for 30 minutes.
- Heat 1 tbsp oil in a wok and sauté the ginger, onions and garlic until lightly browned.
- Lift the meat out of the marinade with a slotted spoon and discard the marinade. Add the meat to the wok and sauté with the vegetables.
- Pour over the stock, sugar and soy sauce. Cook for 4 minutes.
- Thicken the sauce with the cornstarch, stirring continuously until the desired consistency is reached. Season with salt and pepper and serve immediately. #TIME# Preparation takes about 15 minutes and cooking takes approximately 20 minutes. #SERVING IDEA# Serve this dish on a bed of boiled or steamed white rice.
