Pork Spare Ribs Recipe | Easy Chinese Food
Ingredients
- 16-20 spare ribs
- 1 tsp salt
- Oil
- 1 tsp ginger paste
- 1 tsp garlic paste
- 1 tsp onion paste
- Pinch monosodium glutamate (optional) 1 tsp light soy sauce
- 1 tsp cornstarch
- 1 egg
- ½ tsp Shao Hsing wine or dry sherry
- ½ tsp chili oil

- 3 tbsps sugar
- 3 tbsps black vinegar
- 1 tbsp tomato catsup (optional)
- 1 tsp cornstarch
- 1 tsp water
- 1 tbsp dark soy sauce
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp freshly ground black pepper
Instructions
- #A great restaurant favorite which tastes Just as good made at home.# Trim excess fat from spare ribs and rub with salt. Add 4 tbsps oil to the wok and fry the ginger, garlic and onion for 1-2 minutes. Add the spare ribs and stir-fry for 6 minutes.
- Remove to a dish and add the monosodium glutamate, light soy sauce, cornstarch, egg, wine and chili oil. Marinate for 10 minutes.
- Prepare the sauce by mixing all the sauce ingredients together in the wok and bringing them gently to the boil. Simmer for 2-3 minutes and add the spare ribs along with their marinade. Stir fry until the liquid is reduced to half its original quantity.
- Put all the ingredients onto a roasting pan and spread out evenly. Bake at 375°F, for 25 minutes. Baste occasionally with the liquid from the tray and oil. The spare ribs should have browned well and be well coated with seasoning.
