Simple Chicken Broth Recipe (Best Diet Food)
Every mother knows that the best cure for a bad cold, for a stomach problem, for almost any malaise, even a broken heart, is Mama’s chicken soup! There is a whole series of books entitled Chicken Soup for the Soul, based on the proven idea that good chicken soup works wonders against all kinds of ailments and negative conditions – when feeling sick, or down, or fighting a cold.
Ingredients
- 2 liters of water
- 1 big chicken
- 4 carrots
- 2 onions
- 4 ribs celery
- 1 parsnip
- 1 turnip
- 1 c parsley
- Sea salt to taste
- 5 black peppercorns
Instructions
- Place all the ingredients in a pot with the water. Bring it to boil. Remove all the foam as it comes to the surface, reduce heat and cook over low heat for 2 hours.
- Remove from heat and remove the chicken and the vegetables.
- Refrigerate over night; the next day, remove the fat that has risen to the top. (Or eat “as is”!) You can add some thyme, rosemary and/or bay leaves (I take them from the tree in my garden) if preferred.
