8 oz broccoli cut into 3-inch pieces
1 carrot, peeled and sliced
2 cloves garlic, peeled and chopped
½ inch fresh root ginger, peeled and chopped

#This dish is also suitable as an appetizer in small quantities.# Deep-fry the shrimp in hot oil for 1-2 minutes. Drain the shrimp and keep to one side. Keep the oil.
Mix the sauce ingredients together. Mix the seasoning ingredients together in a separate bowl.
Cook the broccoli in boiling water for 1 minute. Drain and add cold water to cover. Drain once again and mix the broccoli with the seasoning ingredients.
Heat the wok and add 2 tbsps cooked oil. Add the carrot, garlic and ginger and stir-fry for 1 minute. Add the broccoli and stir-fry for 1 minute more.
